Hi all,
After a brief hiatus, I'm back as President of Evergreen Trout Unlimited. We have some great things happening at ETU and I wanted to get a note out to you on upcoming programs and events.
Wednesday, March 21, marks the return of Greg Felt @ ArkAnglers as our featured speaker. He had a standing room only crowd last year! Dinner at 6:30pm, Terry Walters (VP, ETU) with some brief ETU business and then Greg's presentaion at 7:15pm or so.
Also, our 2012 Project Schedule is just about finalized. The volunteer sign-up sheets will be passed around on Wednesday night so please, take a look at the dates now and see if you are available to join us for these worthy causes. The schedule includes:
Earth Day Celebration, Saturday, April 21 from 9am to 4pm. Ron Belak (303-674-2239, ronbelak@msn.com) is looking for volunteers to man the ETU booth with him. This is a fun event with a lot of local entities that are all concerned about the environment. There's a rumor that Chris Schauder will, once again, bring his bug collection! Please, call Ron if you have some time on April 21.
Spring Bear Creek Clean-Up. The date is Saturday, April 28. Volunteers meet in the large downtown Evergreen parking lot at 8:30am and clean the stream from approximately 9am till noon. Then, the good part, ETU provides lunch and libations for all volunteers at the Little Bear! Contact Ron (303-674-2239, ronbelak@msn.com) or sign up on Wednesday night to volunteer.
Buchannan Ponds Kids Fishing Clinic is scheduled for Saturday, May 5. John Ellis and Len Wheaton do a fantastic job of Co-Chairing this event, which is always one of our largest of the season. Please, contact John (303-670-4022, jellis@enbcolorado.com) or Len (303-674-4243) or sign up on Wednesday night. We need fly tyers, casting instructors, etc. And, the ponds will be freshly stocked! Oh, if you have any flys or want to tie some up for the kids, please call Dave Schumaker (303-526-1441, daveflyfish@comcast.net) to see what he needs.
Pine Valley Ranch Colorado Parks and Wildlife Youth Outdoor Skills Day. Terry Walters (303-720-5423, twaltershome@msn.com) is, once again, Chairing this event for kids aged 7 to 16. We need fly tyers and casting instructors. CO Parks & Wildlife will have the pond stocked with a large number of nice rainbows for the event.
The weekend of June 23 and 24 is set for our first Camp Comfort. I will be Co-Chairing the event with Jack "Fishhawk" Egender (303-210-3583, megender@aol.com) and Pete Forbes (303-670-9598, pedroforbes@me.com). This is a very rewarding experience and you don't want to miss it.
The fish have been ordered for the July 4th Kids Fishing Clinic as part of the Evergreen Lake Festival. I don't know the specific dates for the stocking yet, but I will pass that along as soon as I can. I'm hoping we can install the fencing in Bear Creek sometime between June 29 and July 1. I'm hoping CO Parks & Wildlife can stock on Monday, July 2.
Trappers Lake camping and fishing trip is scheduled for Wednesday, July 11 through Sunday, July 15. Contact Ron Belak (303-674-2239, ronbelak@msn.com) for details.
The second Camp Comfort weekend is set for July 28 and 29. Same contact information as above.
Thanks so much!
